ISTQB® Awards

The ISTQB® International Software Testing Excellence Award is a prize that is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the preservation, innovation, and research in the field of Software Quality and Testing.

The winner of the ISTQB® Award is an individual who has significantly contributed to the software testing profession by:

• Increasing public awareness of the importance of software quality and testing
• Advancing the publication of research findings in the field of software quality and testing
• Pushing further education on the subject of software quality and testing
• Supporting the creation of standards and norms in the area of software quality and testing
• Giving new impulses to the improvement of software development and testing processes

Each year an Award Panel is convened who assesses the nominations for the Award against the Award Criteria.

There are two rounds of judging:

• Round 1 aims to provide a shortlist of 3 potential candidates.
• The winner is then selected through a voting system in round 2

If in any particular year the nominations do not adequately meet the quality criteria then ISTQB® reserves the right not to announce a winner in that year.

Anyone can submit a nomination for the Award (except members of the prevailing year’s Award Panel). Anonymous and self-nominations will NOT be accepted.

This is a highly prestigious award and nominations should be for exceptional individuals who are significantly influencing and contributing to the software testing profession.

The Award Panel is formed each year so the members change.

The panel will typically include:

• The ISTQB® President
• The Chair of ISTQB® Marketing Working Group
• The Chair of the MWG “ISTQB® Award” stream
• Representatives of ISTQB® Member Boards.

• Winners of the Award are listed on the ISTQB® Award website.
• The winner receives an engraved plaque and is invited to participate in an award ceremony (this is typically at an ISTQB® General Assembly and ISTQB® will cover defined travel and accommodation expenses).
• ISTQB® will share news regarding the Award winner on the ISTQB® main website and on the ISTQB® social media channels.

ISTQB® Growth Contributors are individuals that have contributed significantly over a long period of time to ISTQB® growth and well-being.

Candidates can be individuals from Member Boards, Exam Providers, or Training Providers. Nominations are made by Member Boards, and the ISTQB® Executive awards the recognition based on the recipient’s longstanding positive impact on the ISTQB®.
